“MIRUM® Edition convinces right from the start with its noble feel! The edition consists of five minimalist bags and wallets made of MIRUM®. This plastic-free leather alternative, which is vegan and bio-based at the same time, is a real material innovation – it feels like real leather, grippy and soft. The handmade pieces are created by talented designers and captivate with their puristic simplicity as well as refined details. MIRUM® Edition offers a stylish answer to the growing demand for sustainable and eco-friendly fashion accessories. They are products that you simply love to hold in your hands!”

“burggrafburggraf” was awarded the STAATSPREIS GESTALTUNG KUNST HANDWERK 2020, the Baden-Württemberg State Prize for design, art and craft.

“In a maximally minimalist design approach, the duo Elena and Nicola Burggraf created the clutch „Reto“ made of Portuguese cork, thus convincing in the supreme discipline of successful puristic simplicity. With the unusual yet attractive vegan material, the designers respond to the demands of the times. The functionality is ingeniously derived from plausible details that stand out due to their simple restraint. Especially in the context of craftsmanship, the jury welcomed this voice”.

“The idea of making a backpack out of vegan cork bark rather than animal leather initially aroused the jury’s curiosity and, after closer examination, easily impressed it. Not only does the leather-like material feel warm and supple, it also looks very special and, together with the elegant, clear cut and the striking pleat, lends the backpack a touch of extravagance. The support, which is moved to the front, is a clever solution that provides plenty of arm room, makes carrying more comfortable overall and also contributes to closing the bag even more securely. A great, cleverly thought-out accessory that impressively demonstrates the potential of plant-based materials as a sustainable alternative to animal leather.”

burggrafburggraf is longlisted for “emerging designer of the year” at Dezeen Awards 2020

Longlisted projects and studios have been selected from over 4,300 entries from 85 countries for the third edition of the Dezeen Awards programme, which celebrates the world’s best architecture, interiors and design as well as studios and individuals producing the most outstanding work. Dezeen is one of the world’s most influential architecture, design and interiors magazine.
